Morehead City North Carolina dive guide

That kind of day. A sort of rolling sweetness that builds and builds when everything goes just right. Even the two-hour boat ride out to the Papoose, a sunken World War II tanker, was unusually smooth for North Carolina diving. Which was good news for the Brazilian TV crew rigging a high-res video camera that looked suspiciously like a torpedo – an appropriate image for an area that has seen some of the Atlantic’s fiercest naval warfare. North Carolina’s “Torpedo Alley” is where German U-boats tried to sever the most important Allied supply line. The Papoose became the last of Korvettenkapitan Johann Mohr’s hat trick of mayhem on March 18, 1942, and one of the Cape Lookout area’s several world-class war wrecks.
